Sony Releases Firmware Updates for FX3 & FX30 Cinema Cameras

UPDATE 10/9/24: Sony suspended FX3 Firmware Update 6.00 & FX30 Firmware Update 5.00 on 09-13-2024 due to some products failing to update. However, after taking the necessary measures, we resumed the release on 10-09-2024. We apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused. If your camera successfully updated to Ver. 3.00, you may continue using it without issue.

UPDATE 9/13/24: Sony has suspended FX3 Firmware Update 6.00 & FX30 Firmware Update 5.00 after some users reported their camera failed to start-up after installing the update. The update has been pulled from the support website while Sony engineers investigate the cause. When update conflicts have happened up in the past, it boiled down to a single camera setting that needs to be changed before updating. If you already updated without a hitch – you’re fine. Sony engineers just have to figure out which of the myriad of camera setting is causing the conflict.

Sony releases Firmware Updates for FX3 & FX30 cinema cameras. FX3 Firmware 6.00 and FX30 Firmware 5.00 are available via memory card.

Things to keep in mind before performing the update:

• Updates should be installed in chronological order.
For example: When updating from Ver. 2.02 or earlier, you need to update to Ver. 2.04 or 2.05 first, and then to Ver. 6.00. Only upgrade to Ver. 6.00 after updating to Ver. 2.04 or 2.05. If you try to install Ver. 6.00 without updating to Ver. 2.04 or 2.05, an error will occur and you will not be able to update your camera.
• This update is only available for memory cards. Windows and macOS versions are not provided.
• You can download the software update using the Creators’ App available in the App Store and Google Play.

• Allows you to choose the exposure time (from either shutter speed or shutter angle) when shooting movies
• Allows you to add OK/NG/KEEP flags to clips during or after movie recording
• Improves the image quality when using 3D LUT software
• Adds the 709tone color mode to Picture Profile. Please set one of the Picture Profiles (PP1-PP11) to the 709tone color mode
• Allows notifications to be displayed when the latest software is available for your camera
• You can now continue shooting while transferring captured photos and videos to a smartphone or tablet

• Transfer to smartphones and tablets can now be resumed even if interrupted in the middle of a transfer

• You can now transfer only the differences that have not yet been transferred to your smartphone or tablet, or add videos to be transferred during the transfer process

• Adds support for the Network Streaming function

– Confirmation has been made that input is possible in M2 Live using SRT.
M2 Live is an All-in-One cloud switcher service that allows real-time switching of video and audio, overlaying of graphics, and playback of video files on the cloud. A contract is required to use M2 Live. This service may not be available in some countries or regions.
• Supports the following Monitor & Control app functions
Note: Ver. 2.1.0 or later of the Monitor & Control app is necessary. The Monitor & Control app may not be available in some countries or regions.
– Wired connection via a USB cable
– Clip review during camera playback mode
– Focus map display
– IRIS operation bar display
– Selection from shutter speed or shutter angle for exposure time
• Improves the functionality and operational stability of the camera
