  2. So if I understand this any E mount camera except those listed a can be used to update lenses and the adaptor but it is only the A9 that will benefit.

  3. How do you update lens firmware for the lens listed, if you don’t have an A9 please? Looking here the latest lens firmware isn’t listed. Do I have to pretend I have an A9 and not an A7Rii and go ahead downloading from here ?
    Thanks for your help.

    1. Lens Firmware Updates are listed under the LENS not the CAMERA.

I linked to ALL the available lens updates in this post. If you don’t see the lens you’re looking for that means no update is available.

  4. I use a LA-EA3 adapter with my Sony A7RII camera. I am not able to find the firmware update for the adapter when I follow your Sony link. Please advise.

  5. Is Sony going to update the LA EA3 adaptor to have the same function as the Sigma MC11…eg all the auto focus functions?

    1. Currently the only update for LA-EA3 is to add support for 10FPS shooting on Sony a9/a7R III:

Sony LA-EA3 Adapter firmware update for Sony a9/a7R III: MAC | WIN (Note: The lens must be attached to a camera to perform LA-EA3 update. The NEX-5, NEX-3, NEX-C3, NEX-VG10, and PXW-FS7 model cameras cannot be used.)

I have no idea if future fw updates might add Eye AF. While Sigma MC-11 and Metabones T Smart Adapter IV & V (Green Mode) do enable Eye AF – the results with DSLR lenses is spotty. Unlike E-mount lenses, DSLR lenses were never designed to provide the focusing speed required for Eye AF.

  6. Brian a dumb question re lens firmware updates. I have several lenses that could use the 0.02 update; 2470f2.8 GM, 50 f1.4 Z, and 85F1.4 GM. Will one update work for rest of the lens?
I also have a 70200 f2.8 GM that has 5.0 for update. Is the 0.02 update included in the .5 update?
Thanks in advance for your help.
