Irix Cine 45mm T1.5 (Pre-order for $1,195) is designed for ultra-low – 0,5% distortion with a circular 9-blade iris producing a pleasant background blur and a smooth adjustment of the T-stop from T1.5 to T22 with practically no focus breathing according to Irix.

Like the other Irix Cine lenses, it features a 95mm front filter thread along with another 86mm built-in filter thread and a reversible lens hood that’s attached via magnets designed to work with ‘future accessories.’

Irix expands its offer of cinematographic lenses with the new full-frame 45mm T1.5

Irix, the manufacturer of high-class optics, expands its Cine line by introducing the new 45mm T1.5 lens. This new model is the third full frame cinematographic lens designed for shooting with Ultra HD 8K cinema cameras. The Irix 45mm T1.5 is based on a completely new optical design which includes four elements made of high refraction glass, one extra-low dispersion lens and one aspherical lens. 11 elements in 9 groups deliver crisp details, vibrant colors and an ultra-low – 0,5% distortion. The circular 9-blade iris ensures a pleasant background blur and a smooth adjustment of the T- number from 1.5 to 22. With practically no focus breathing, the Irix Cine 45mm T1.5 is the perfect lens for filming scenes with a natural character.

The 45mm T1.5 is the third lens in the Irix Cine line which stands for a perfect combination of advanced technology and modern design. A good example of the Irix smart design is the front housing element which has a diameter of 95mm and a built-in 86mm filter thread. It also provides a magnetic mount for the reversible lens hood and for future Irix Cine accessories.

This synergy is also visible in the shape of the geared rings which have been integrated into the lens housing. The convenience of operating by hand and full compatibility with follow focus systems was a priority in the external design of the lens. You can use any follow focus system you like and position it wherever you want to thanks to a special rotating adaptive ring design. The adaptive ring can be adjusted to any desired position and expose the geared ring to couple with follow focus systems.

The Irix Cine line has been carefully deliberated from the start. The focus and aperture rings of all the lenses are aligned at the same height and have the same rotation angle. With the exception of the Irix
150mm T3.0 Macro 1:1, where a longer 270 degrees focus throw is necessary, the rest of the Irix Cine range lenses have ring rotations of 180 degrees for the focus ring and 75 degrees for the aperture ring.

Versatility and compact in size

Irix Cine lenses are some of the most compact and lightest film lenses covering the full frame format. The housing is made of a lightweight and impact-resistant aluminum-magnesium alloy which has been successfully used and tested in the Irix Blackstone still lenses. Thanks to the low weight (every Irix Cine lens weighs about 1.1 kilograms / 2.4 lbs), they can be used on smaller cameras on handheld rigs or stabilizers as well as on professional setups. In order to achieve greater comfort while working with follow focus systems, the Irix Cine lenses are equipped with a lens support foot. IRIX has announced their 11mm T4.3 Fullframe E-mount Cine Lens as the second lens in their new Cine lens line.

IRIX, known for high mechanical and optical quality, pleasantly presents the Irix 11mm T4.3 Cine Lens ($1,195) – the second full frame lens from it’s new cinematography line. Enjoy the new perspective of super panoramic film shots made with Irix Cine lens!

Irix 11mm T4.3 is the second unique lens from the new Cine line. Its extremely short focal length, rectilinear image projection and the large image circle of 43.3mm (covering the full frame format) make it one of the most outstanding cine lenses on the market. Depending on the diagonal of the sensor, the lens can provide a moderate wide angle of view for classic wide-angle shots or super-panoramic 123 degree viewing angle in a 2.39:1 widescreen format. Irix 11mm T4.3 thanks to its unique parameters, provides perspective not available in film optics, thus releasing creativity in creating dynamic shots.

The same, but different optics

The lens optical system is based on the new optical formula, developed especially for cinematic purpose. It consists of 16 optical elements, which four are made with high refractive index (HR) glass, three other have aspherical surfaces and last two are made with low-dispersion glass (ED). The use of large front lens and other special glass elements provides crisp cinematic shots in a resolution up to 8K while keeping the focus “breathing” effect at the lowest level. The lens offers large maximum T number of 4.3 which can be reduced to T22, thanks to rounded shape of iris blades.

Functional and highly innovative

When designing the lens mechanical system of 11mm T4.3, we used newly developed technical solutions that have been successfully implemented in the Irix Cine 150mm T3.0 lens. The new Multi Start Thread focusing mechanism allows quiet and precise focusing even under adverse weather conditions such as rain, humidity or extreme temperatures. The focusing geared ring rotates 180 degrees and depending on the lens version, has focusing scale with metric or imperial units.

Thanks to the another innovative solution like adaptive ring, the Irix Cine 11mm T4.3 ensures great ergonomics of operation both by hand and with follow focus mechanism. Moreover, despite of the very short optical system layout, geared rings of focus and aperture were placed at the same height as in other Irix Cine lenses – all for better ergonomics and more intuitive use.

The exceptional functionality are a distinctive feature of all Irix products. The same applies to the Irix Cine 11mm T4.3, whose extremely compact design (weights 1,1 kg) has been also equipped with an innovative Magnetic Mount System for accessories. The MMS system allows quick and easy attachment of variety dedicated accessories. The lens hood included in the kit with the lens is the first element of the MMS system. The system will be expanded with further accessories in the future.

Irix Cine 150mm T3.0 Macro 1:1 ($1,195 from Amazon B&H Photo | Adorama) is the first lens in a new line of full frame sensor cine lenses, ready for 8K UHD. Its complex optical design is based on the design used in the Irix 150mm f/2.8 Macro 1:1. The lens features 12 optical elements in 9 groups, four of which are high refractive index (HR) glass, and three low-dispersion glass (ED). Because of these elements, this lens offers superb high resolution, nearly zero chromatic aberration and virtually no visible distortion. The optical system is equipped with an internal focusing system. The lens was designed to have as little breathing as possible.

Featuring a high precision focus mechanism for quiet and smooth rotation of the focus ring thanks to the new MST lens positioning system – created specially for the Irix Cine range. The Multi Start Thread mechanism, in combination with a sealed housing, ensures durable and long-term operation of the lens in various atmospheric conditions even in the most demanding situations. The rotation angle of the focus ring is increased to 270 degrees, which makes focusing easy and accurate at any range. The lens will be available with both metric and imperial markings.

Eleven iris blades with rounded edges create great bokeh and sharpness. The Irix Cine 150mm also significantly reduces the diffraction effect when filming at low aperture values. The de-clicked aperture ranges from T3.0 to T32. The aperture ring rotates 75 degrees.

Side edges of the focus gear-rings are shielded by a special ring, providing a larger area for better manual handling – while still compatible with follow-focus systems. Lens markings are laser engraved and treated with UV fluorescent paint, to improve the readability in low light conditions.

The Irix Cine 150 mm T3.0 Macro 1:1 has been designed as to withstand various weather conditions. The housing is equipped with several seals to create a barrier for dust and rain. The sealed construction ensures the safety of both the optical lens system and the camera sensor.

Irix announced a pair of ultra wide-angle, rectilinear manual focus 15mm F2.4 lenses available in Canon EF, Nikon F, Pentax K mounts – but contrary to pre-announcement buzz not in Sony E-mount.

The Irix 15mm f/2.4 lens is designed to deliver the best optical performance and match full frame DSLR cameras demands. Providing a focal length of 15mm, this new lens model is ideal for outdoor and indoor photography whether it is photojournalism, landscapes or architecture.

Combining capabilities specific to analogue photography with ingenious technology and solutions, the Irix 15mm f/2.4 is the perfect tool for both professionals and hobbyists. The new special features such as focus lock, infinity click and hyperfocal scale set a new level of manual lens functionality. Focus lock enables to lock the focus ring at any time enssuring the chosen settings. Hyperfocal distance scale gives information about the accessible range for depth of field for a given aperture simply and intuitively. When the focusing ring is set in the “infinity” position, there is a noticeable “click” (infinity click), making it easier to find the value without looking.

The Irix 15mm f/2.4 meets the most demanding requirements of modern cameras. Thanks to sophisticated optical construction and special neutrino coating, color aberration, ghosting and flare effects have been reduced to the absolute minimum, so the lens is ready to meet the requirements of the 50+ megapixel sensors of the newest cameras.

The complex optical system consist of 15 elements in 11 groups. Three of the lens elements have a high refractive index and two others have been made from extra-low dispersion glass. The construction also contains two glass aspherical lenses that are responsible for extremely high image quality and improving image brightness at edges, while minimizing distortions and aberrations at the same time.

With a minimum focusing distance of 0.28 metre and 9 rounded shaped aperture blades, the lens stands for supremely smooth out-of-focus areas. Working with a narrow depth of field it allows the user to fully enjoy the bokeh effect.

Irix 15mm f/2.4 lenses are made with extreme precision, allowing them to be used in even the harshest weather conditions. Each lens is equipped with a weather sealed construction that protects the interior against dust and moisture. Thanks to inner seals they are also protected from accidental water splashes.

Despite its short focal length and large aperture, the Irix 15mm f/2.4 is equipped with not only a front filter mount, but also has a rear gelatin filter slot. The design of the lens allows the use of 95 mm screw-in filters at the front in the petal-shape lens hood and gelatin filters at the back of the lens.
