The new Mac Yosemite OS X requires you download and install Mac OS X 10.10 Driver Loader kernel extension prior to downloading and installing the actual firmware update. This utility installs the necessary application needed for software updates if you are running Mac OS X 10.10 – NOT needed for earlier versions of Mac OS.

Just be sure to read the step-by-step directions very carefully and pay attention to my warnings above. Don’t get distracted during the process – please shut down all other applications!

    1. There is a work around for Yosemite users posted on the Sony UK site that involves downloading a kernal patch first – then the update will run on 10.10. I’m told that works great but cannot test it since I aleady updated all my cameras with OS 10.9

  1. i ended up phoning sony alpha for help, and helper had me download this driver (DL100_1411a.dmg) and not use my model number for my markII. who would ever know that? she told me to share this information with you.
after about 15 hours trying to figure out what was wrong, the wifi download finally works.

        1. That’s definitely feedback that I will pass along to Sony. I’m still running OS 10.9 because of incompatibilities with other apps – but the updates should not be this difficult.
