Sony 100mm F2.8 STF GM OSS lens
On the opening day of the WPPI Expo in Las Vegas, Sony has announced a pair of portrait lenses: the FE 100mm F2.8 STF GM OSS & FE 85mm F1.8 Lenses.
Sony’s FE 100mm F2.8 STF GM OSS lens ($1498) becomes the fourth lens in Sony’s G Master line-up and it boasts a revolutionary lens design offering the smoothest bokeh ever. It’s also the world’s first true Smooth Transition Focus lens featuring Autofocus and Optical Stabilization. It features an 11-blane circular aperture a APD Apodization lens element for lifelike rendering to eliminate bokeh distortion, Nono AR Coating to reduce ghost and flare and ED glass to suppress chromatic aberration.

At just a shade under $600, Sony’s FE 85mm F1.8 lens ($598) adds a budget-priced portrait lens to Sony’s FE fullframe E-mount lens line that many of our readers have requested, priced well-below the Sony FE 85mm F1.4 G Master and Zeiss Batis 85mm f/1.8 Lenses

Looking forward to your review and thank you for the information.
Too close focals this focal is so crowded Jesus! we need 70-400 and 150-500 ASAP!
85 1.8 was the #1 most requested lens among our readers.
Wow. I just shelled out for an A7rii and I’m broke now. So this will help! Hope its focusing is better than the 50mm. Any idea of when it will be released?
The FE 85 1.8 has a larger AF motor than the FE 50 1.8, so yes it’s faster
can this be used for macro as well?
Sonys FE 90mm 2.8 Macro is the sharpest Macro ever made so no need to remake a lens that’s already in the system. The 100 STF is all about bokeh.
it’s odd they did not produce a 135mm portrait lens rather than the 100, given we have already the 85 g master and the Batis 85 as well as the super sharp 90. I understand it’s all about the bokeh but still?
I’m certain theses are not the final lenses in the FE lens line.
Good release and the STF seems interesting but I won’t buy any of them having the 90mm and the 70-200F4
Sony or Zeiss should realised that most of the users are expecting a 135mm. A quick look to a poll open since 2015 would give them a clue. It’s at https://www.dpreview.com/forums/thread/3862458
