  1. I have the 5 and love it so much to me top of the line. I had the 4 that also was the greatest for it’s time but with all the focus things and with the continued night tools like bright monitoring etc. I went to the 5. The A73 for me was my first move up from a A7SM1 where I enjoyed Astro Milky Ways mostly and all the apps that processed images in camera that help me learn the most about photography and tools. The A7M3 was the first with ISO Invariance meaning you could capture at a lower ISO getting a dark image but with less noise then in post just increasing exposure you would get a bright image with great detail to work with it also was the fist, I believe, with two level noise reduction there was the base next 1st was 640 2nd was 12800 both were like the base as far as noise.
For a starter camera the A7M3 will be a dream for stills, I have no idea about video. If you wallet is deep enough the A7R5 maybe ones last it is that great.
The option of lenses for each is a personnel thing for what ever you like to capture. As far as lenses Sony was making the mirrorless lenses from before 2003 with APS-C lenses for example the E 10-18mm F4 OSS (15-27mm in 35mm) but also works in full frame mode (this was before full frames) at 12-28mm (18mm if you remove the rear light shield). Just starting my love for Astro I was after wider than wide with the A7SM1 and the images at F4 and 30sec. had pin point stars in the corners and all other things judged by pixel pepping Pros where/are not there. Try Ratcliff did a review of the lens in 2015 as he was a landscaper and also looking for wider than wide and found the lenses properties to be great. The point the lens is so small even compared to the newest of primes with threads for filters and so light weight when on top of a pano rig it and the camera seam as not there the other Sony lenses came out with the FE 12-24mm F4 and then the F2.8 both very big and heavy needing external filter holders and filters even the 14mm f/1.8 need external filter holders and filters yes also good optics but not till 2017 and yes no other camera maker in 2017 had a 12mm. The greatness and perfectness in lens making way back in 2013 is what makes todays Sony lenses, even telephoto, capturing great images.
Last note if a beginner or even a long timer if you can find a Mod 1 or Mod 2 with the camera apps on it you will have history where a few of the apps were added to future cameras not as apps but functions.
Also if you want to learn what a Sony camera Mod 1 or 2 can do get the early books/pdf’s Brian Smith each will make for better photography skills each still a good read!
