Do you know if a7RII reviews are embargoed or if it’s just that the cameras are not out there with reviewers yet? Seems odd given that the cameras are now arriving with the early adopters.
I guess if it’s embargoed the first rule is not to talk about the embargo, so I understand if you can’t respond to this!
While parts of Asia and Europe have gotten their cameras, they haven’t arrived in the U.S. yet. I suppose the other guys had a faster boat 😉
Hmm, what about Lightroom 5?
Adobe only releases updates for the current versions of their software which are Lightroom 6 and Lightroom CC

Files from my recently purchased Sony A7rii will not open in LR or PS after updating in CC. Ideas?
Try running the updates again and rebooting. RAWs from all three cameras open for me in both LR and PS CC after the current update.
Hi Brian, first off, thank you for taking the time to share all of your great experience and knowledge with the photography community. Have you tried to tether the A7rii to the latest Lightroom release or is Capture One the only way for tethered capture via a cable?
Lightroom doesn’t support direct Sony tethering. You must run Sony Remote Camera Control to import the images to a folder and set Lightroom to watch that folder with is slow and clunky as hell. Capture One Pro for Sony is MUCH faster as worth the 30 bucks many times over…
You can also run Sony Remote Camera Control on it’s own to tether – but the interface is less user friendly.
New A7Rii owner, recently discovering LR doesn’t support tethering for this camera. C1 Pro”¦$30? I thought it was $300?
There is a special version called ‘Capture One Pro for Sony’ that sells for 50 bucks not $300. It offers all the features of the full version but it only supports Sony cameras. Keep your eyes on this website for a special deal coming soon.
Hi
I have this update on ma Lr 5 and its working with RAW fies from Sony A7II but it does not work with RX10II
What can I do: to fix that problem?
You must upgrade to Lightroom 6 or Lightroom CC
Lightroom is running super slow after the update, anyone else experience this?
There was a dot.1 update patch shortly after the release. It’s possible the updater is not grabbing the very latest versions.
You can download Lightroom 6.2.1 / LR CC 2015.2.1 here: MAC | WIN
Hi,
Not sure what exactly happened, but I just downloaded the latest LR CC and I can’t see the lens profiles…for ex. I only see Sony DT 18-200mm one 🙁 Any clue what might be the issue here? Thanks in advance!
You’ve got a jpeg.
I recently purchased Sony A7R2 with updated firmware, along with Sony 28 mm lens. I have stand alone Adobe PS6 and LR 5.7. Will Adobe support my camera and lens from Sony.. i will purchase update to my LR ,if i am forced to but i hate have subscription service of CC by Adobe.
Also in my wish list to purchase Batis 25 mm or Batis 85 mm. Will my software allow support my camera and lenses including uncompressed Raw files.
Also would you tell me,how to incorporate my downloaded DNG 9.3 into my PS6 and LR5 or possibly LR6 (if force to upgrade) . i will not update to LR6 ,if i cannot add these functionality in my current Adobe software.
Help appreciated
Thanks
If you don’t want Lighroom CC you can purchase the upgrade to stand-alone Lightroom 6:

Or you can convert the files to DNG using the latest Adobe DNG Converter.
There is obviously support for the Sony RX100IV in Lightroom, but does anyone know where to get a lens profile for this camera?
The current version of Lightroom offers RAW file support for RX100 IV – but no lens profile.
Thank you, Brian.
Hello Brian. I currently use Lightroom 5 which supports my Canon 5D III – I know it’s old s/w now. I have just bought the Sony RX100 MV which is not supported by Lr5. I just use Lr (e.g. not Photoshop) and I will probably move to Sony SLR from Canon at some point so…….what should I purchase Lr-wise in order to be supported. I want to be able to import my earlier shots from Lr5 to the new version of Lr and keep the whole process and workflow as simple as possible. Your advice would be much appreciated. Best, Gerry.
The current version of Lightroom 6 supports all current Sony cameras. You should be able to upgrade from Adobe for around $79.
many thanks. GC
Hello Brian,
I use Ligthroom Cc and when I try to import my pictures in RAW (not compressed), the program doesn’t import the full size of the file (42 Mpx) but only a file of 5168×3448.
Do your know if there is a solution for that kind of problem?
Thank you!
Sam
You’re shooting APS-C. Either you’re not using a fullframe lens or you have selected APS-C crop mode
Hi Brian, thanks for sharing your knowledge, your site is great! I am just wondering, if Sony A7R II raw images are supported by Lightroom 6 or only from the CC Version onwards. Thanks for any tip! Best, David
Yes. Lightroom 6 gets updates as long as it’s the current version. a7RII was supported back when it was released, but you should update to LR 6.8 to get all the new support released since.
Thanks Brian! I will get your book about the Sony A7RII. Sounds great 🙂
Hi Brian! I am using a Sony A7ii and Lightroom CC does not seems to accept it. Do you kow what version of Lightroom should I get? Thanks and more power!
A7II has been supported a very long time in Lightroom. The current version will absolutely support it.
Hallo Brian, your site ist really great and your knowledge too. Just I am going now to ask you a little question .. Sony Alpha 7RII and Lightroom 6 6.12. – what do you think about this constellation ? Do they work together? Thanks for any tip 🙂
Yes.
Thank You
Love
Hello Brian
I have again a little question… what about the Capture One pro 10 for sony alpha 7RII? Many thanks for your opinion 🙂
