Communication Arts Photo Annual Awards has just awarded recognition to my portraits of Nudist Golfers photographed for Sports Illustrated. Even though I photograph famous athletes like Shaquille O’Neal and Dwyane Wade, more often I get the call to shoot more unusual aspects of sport like the Gatorade scientists, female boxers or 80-year-old surfers. With the possible exception of the Olympics, my favorite sports shoot of all time was photographing Nudist Golf for Sports Illustrated at a tiny nine-hole pitch and putt golf course Florida’s oldest Naturist Resorts just down the road from Disneyworld.

Of course the real challenge was keeping all the naughty bits hidden so that it could actually appear in a magazine that annually finds ways to hide the naughty bits of 19-year-old supermodels in their highly touted ‘Sports Illustrated I Forgot to Wear My Swimsuit Issue.’
