Zeiss has announced the extreme wide angle Zeiss Batis 18mm F2.8 lens as the latest lens to their fullframe Sony E-mount lens line-up. The very large field angle of this super wide-angle lens is perfect for creative shots with unusual perspectives. Consistently excellent image quality right into the corners makes the lens perfect for the challenges of, for example, landscape, astro and architectural photography.
The Zeiss Batis autofocus lenses were specially developed for mirrorless full-frame system cameras from Sony. The lenses are fully compatible with all E-mount cameras and offer not only fast, quiet autofocus, but also protection against dust and spray water. For creative photography, the innovative OLED display shows the distance and depth of field to ensure that the focusing range can always be perfectly set. The completely new design of the high-speed Zeiss Batis family offers perfect image quality.
This super wide-angle camera lens has 11 lens elements in ten groups and draws on the ZEISS Distagon optical design. Four of the lens elements are aspheric on both sides and seven are made from special types of glass. The Floating Elements design permits constantly high image performance in the focal plane – from the minimum object distance to infinity.
The fast, quiet autofocus drive with linear motors keeps the subject sharply in focus. In addition to the autofocus, a handy, rubberized focus ring supports precise manual focusing. This gives the photographers total creative freedom when compositing the image.
Zeiss Batis lenses are also equipped with dust and weather seals, allowing them to be used in even the harshest weather conditions. All Zeiss Batis lenses support all the operating modes and functions of the current range of E-mount cameras.
