UPDATE: As Ben Wilmore points out in the comments, you’d still need to add the size, weight and cost of an EF-E Smart Adapter if you wanted to use the Canon EF 11-24mm f/4L USM on a Sony E-mount camera. Here’s the math on that:

The photo, dimensions and weight of the Canon lens are misleading since you’d have to attach an adaptor in order to use it on a Sony body. That would make the lens much longer in the photo and the dimensions and weight would be even higher. Also add the price of the adaptor to the price of the Canon lens. I’ve got the 12-24mm on pre-order and plan to sell my Canon 11-24mm as soon as it arrives. Now I’ll only have two Canon lenses left with no Sony equivalents: 17mm tilt/shift and fisheye zoom.
Absolutely correct, Ben. Post Updated.
WOW…. looks like my next body/system will have to be Sony so I can start saving my back! 1/2 the weight! WOW!
Thanks for sharing Brian!

Would be good to see a comparison with old Sony 10-18 lens for NEX series. It is efficient in 12-16 on a full frame. Would it worth to spend additional $1K for this upgrade.
I’ve got the E 10-18, but if you’re shooting full frame, you want the Sony FE 12-24mm F4 G!
