I’m headed off to Toronto to speak at the Exposure Photo & Video Imaging Expo for Sony Canada this weekend. It’s been several years since I’ve been in Toronto so I’m really looking forward to getting back there.

LOCATION PORTRAITS & TRAVEL PHOTOGRAPHY
Great environmental portraits capture both personality and place. Miami celebrity portrait photographer Brian Smith photographs noteworthy and notorious celebrities in the locations where they live, work and play. He’ll show how he photographs subjects on location so that the environment adds another dimension to the shoot showing examples of how he approaches shooting on location whether it’s a large production shoot of a famous subject or simply the someone he meet on the street while traveling. Smith will discuss location lighting and tips on selecting the best location to add visual interest to your photographs and how to quickly capture the personality of the people you photograph. He’ll also talk about ways that personal projects can be used to generate editorial and commercial assignments, and allow your personal style to evolve and grow while generating assignments you love to shoot.
CREATING THE VISUAL LOOK
Pulitzer Prize-winning photographer Brian Smith shares how he created many of the images from his book Secrets of Great Portrait Photography. Brian will show how to create the right look for any shoot whether done “in camera” by choice of lens, lighting or post-processing. He’ll show how different looks can be achieved quickly using A7/A7R and lens mount adapters that allow unlock endless lens possibilities. He will explain how the look of your shot sets the mood and how to tailor that mood for each project and to match the photographer’s vision.
