Readers have alerted me to counterfeit Sony NP-FZ100 batteries sold as “genuine Sony” on eBay. Please only purchase camera batteries from an authorized dealer!
There are lots of legitimate eBay sellers. I’m not posting this to bash ALL eBay sellers. Unfortunately eBay also attracts a lot of bottom feeders. Don’t take a chance purchasing a camera battery from anyone but an authorized retailer displaying this logo:
The risk simply isn’t worth it.
Sony a7 III / a7R III firmware 2.00 flags non-compliant batteries. If you believe you recently purchased a counterfeit battery on eBay that was listed as “genuine Sony” please contact PayPal.
