Tamron 70-180mm f/2.8 Di III VXD FE Lens ($1,199 at B&H Photo) is a compact, fast telephoto zoom lens designed for full-frame Sony E-mount cameras. This lens spans a useful short-telephoto to mid-telephoto range with a f/2.8 maximum aperture ideal for shooting in available light and for controlling depth of field.
Optical design includes a series of low dispersion and aspherical elements to correct a variety of aberrations and a BBAR-G2 coating to reduce flare and ghosting for high contrast and color accuracy. Floating elements ensure consistent image quality throughout the focusing range, from 2.8′ to infinity.
Autofocus features a pair of VXD linear motor units, which deliver notably fast, accurate, and quiet focusing performance, and full-time manual focus control is also available. It features moisture-resistant construction and a fluorine-coated front element to protect against fingerprints and smudging.

Good Morning Brian
Is this a good lens choice Tamron 70-180mm f/2.8 Di III VXD for the Sony A7 II cropped sensor?
It’s a Fullframe lens Gino. You can of corse use it with the APS-C crop setting but you don’t have to.
