  1. Hi Brian, I have just found your site, thanks for such a helpful space. I have two Sony A1 cameras and am a PC user. One was version 1.10, one was 1.20. I have just updated the one with 1.20 to 2.02, by using the software from the Sony website (and doing the >1.35 > 2.01 >2.02 pathway). It was fairly straightforward. However I then tried to do the same for the camera on 1.10 and have fallen at the first hurdle. Basically I cannot set the USB method to mass storage mode. The menu is greyed out. I was wondering whether there was a way of finding the upgrade from 1.10 to 1.20? That would hopefully enable me to set the correct USB storage method and allow me to upgrade. I looked at your site but it only seemed to link to the latest one, is there anywhere that has older upgrades?

    1. Hello Helen, on the camera running fw 1.10 you mentioned that USB Connection was grayed out. What happens when you press the grayed out setting? Does it say “This operation or setting not available as follows: PC Remote”

If so, select Menu > Network > Transfer/Remote > PC Remote Function > OFF

USB Connection will no longer be grayed out and you can proceed.

  2. Thanks Brian, yes I did check it, but didn’t understand which other menu it was referring to. Thanks so much for explaining. I am an ex Canon user, so find Sony menus a bit baffling still!
