THANK YOU FOR THE HEADS UP ON A UPDATE. Have never done any editing on a iPad or phone mobile devices. I know this is like vermatum from the Sony camera site but this note is a little confusing:
Note: This update is only available for memory cards. Windows and macOS versions are not provided. The site states
Click the Download button.
After reading the disclaimer, click Download.
Save the file to your computer.
Insert the formatted memory card into a computer.
Save the BODYDATA.DAT file in the root directory of the memory card.
Note: Do not change the file name.
The point you do not run from the computer watching the update like some time back when updating cameras, I know I did this once before for the A7RV but can not remember how it was done before. So with this update you put the update file on the slot 1 memory card and it runs on camera.
A few things not stated is some camera settings will be able to be saved to memory card and that info sent to the computer file and after update put back on memory card but some settings will have to be redone. Like custom setting button assignments and not all everything in shooting menus. The save and load settings that will not be saved are on the online help guide
https://helpguide.sony.net/ilc/2230/v1/en/contents/TP0002927434.html?search=save%2Fload%20settings
like time and date and copyright info that will have to be redone.
Glad I got a thick book on all my Sony cameras like I did back when you had books some still available in PDF and there are online Help Guides you can look up info by typing in the question. I have the help guides on all my cameras on my browser bar but I must say getting a two pound book on a camera is great for finding info you never thought you could do.
