so I shoot Sony A1 or Sony A7IV with the 200-600 do I need this update???
Hello Deb, it’s always a good idea to keep firmware up to date even if the headline updates are aimed at a camera you may not own. Sony often slips in a number of minor improvements they don’t list individually.
I just tried this with my 100-400 and my new a7r5. I took several test shots before I updated my 100-400 (from ver 01) and ver 03 actually made the stabilization significantly worse. I lost about 1-2 stops. Anyone else have this issue?
The FE 200-600mm F5.6-6.3 G OSS link is wrong it goes to SEL100400GM Lens System Software (Firmware) Update Ver. 03 (Windows)
Goto Sony Lens FE 200-600mm F5.6-6.3 G OSS site Support Download Firmware
Always verify updates by going to the Sony’s lens website for the current firmware
Sorry Ed, you are correct (and the first person to catch my error). It’s fixed now!
Can the lens firmware updates be done from a memory card on the A7R5?
Nope. Lens firmware is updated from MAC or PC via USB-C connection through the camera.
Hello Brian,
I need to update the firmware of my FE 24-240mm f/3.5-6.3 OSS Sony lens but I am on a Mac (v 14.5) and the Sony loaders don’t work. Any workarounds? Any suggestion would be very much appreciated.
Thank you,
Jiri
