I am just wondering if you might know if the uncompressed raw firmware might make its way to the sony A7 mkii as it has to the other mkii versions.
So far only a7RII update has been announced
Hey Brian, in step 13. you are directed to “reset” your camera. Do you lose customized settings when doing the firmware update? Thanks!
I don’t recall ever losing any setting in the update process. Though I program so many cameras I could reset my settings in about 2 minutes if I did…
Ok, thanks Brian!
Hello Brian, what software do you use to read the new uncompressed RAW file ? I am using the Capture One Express for Sony, but it only displays a black screen for the uncompressed RAW files. Or what else do you suggest to use if Capture One Express for Sony does not support it ? Thanks
The current versions of Lightroom, Photoshop and Adobe DNG Converter support Sony Uncompressed Raw from both a7RII and a7SII. If Capture One does not yet, it will likely be in the next update.
I don’t have those, but I found out later that it supported RAW from A7SII and assumed it would do the same with A7RII – As you confirmed – Thanks Brian !

HI!
when recording 4k video. Do you know why I get an (.mp4) file when I open it on my mac? isn’t (.mp4) too compressed?
Menu > Camera Settings 2 > (Movie) File Format > XAVC S 4K
Your dual record settings must be on. This creates a .mp4 file as well as the 4K file.
Hi Brian, i have problems with the display in the monitor, it seems that only a little part is on focus, then i take a shot and the play back give me the real depth of field, im using a 50mm f. 1.2 canon serie Lense, and the metabones speed booster ultra, can you help me?
Third-party lenses on Smart Adapters will focus wide open – then stop down when you shoot. If you wish to see Depth of Field preview with Canon lenses on a7RII, you can program ‘Aperture Preview’ to a Custom Button.
Menu > Custom Settings > Custom Key Settings > Custom Button (1-4) > Aperture Preview
Do you have any feedback on a7r2 with last firmware for long exposure (iso100, around 2 or 3min) with lenr off ? All tests I see on the net show ot worse than A7R.
Thanks
I don’t normally go beyond a minute so I have not shot enough frames at 2-3 minutes to comment one way or another.
