If you get a chance to test the 14mm, I’ll be interested in your findings. This looks like a brilliant lens for the A7. My 8mm E mount on my NEX-6 is among the sharpest lenses I’ve put on it, including my Leitz M mounts.
Yes, that’s the one I’m curious about too, so I’ll post a review if I can get my hands on one. Good to know that about the 8mm.
Where can you buy this lens, I cannot find any website that sells this lens. Is is really out??
Just click on the header for either lens for the link.
The link takes you to the lens that is e-mount but it is for APS-C sized sensor. Would it work on full frame without it vigneting on the corners.
Yes Samir, all five lenses listed here will cover fullframe. They’re identical in optical design to the lenses Samyang produces for other lens mounts making them the first third-party FE lenses to hit the market.
Hi, the link you gave for the 85mm is for Mfr # 85M-E. Another model (Mfr # 85M-S, see link below) which specifically say for full frame in its description. Which one is correct? Thanks

I posted the correct link. The link you sent is for Sony A-mount. The lenses are identical except for mount. BOTH cover fullframe.
never mind, got my question answered from b&h. Your link is correct. Thanks
Hi Brian,
I checked with B&H, and the confirmed that they do not sell these lenses, The hyperlink you have takes you to a lens which is for APS-C sized sensor not full frame (Sony A7/r). I have been looking for this lens (full frame) for few months now but cannot find it anywhere. If you know a place where they are selling this please let me know.
Samir
The B&H website is incorrect and the person you’re speaking with is likely simply reading from it. The five lenses I listed in the post will all cover fullframe e-mount.
Brian,
This is the confirmation from B&H, I checked with them again, don’t really know what is the right information

Dan W: Hello Samir. My name is Dan and I will be glad to assist you. Please give me a few moments to begin working on your inquiry.
Dan W: Just a moment please while I check…
Dan W: Unfortunately no, it is not designed to cover the full frame sensor.
Samir: which one will work with sony a7 then
Samir: I was assured by Brian Smith that it works on sony a7
Dan W: So far no one makes a 14mm that will cover the full frame.
Samir: what about Rokinon 14mm f/2.8 ED AS IF UMC Lens for Sony E Mount
Dan W: I checked that too and it is not able to cover the full frame.

Hi Samir. B&H is confused on this one. In fairness to them they’ve got a million products to keep track of and it hard to keep track of a hundred. But the five lenses I listed are all fullframe no matter what their website says. Third-party lens makers like Samyang/Rokinon, Sigma, Tamrom and Tokina don’t use different lens designs for each mount they support so if they design a lens to cover fullframe a sensor it will cover fullframe on ALL mounts.
Hello Brian, ever since I discovered a lens profile for the Rokinon 14mm I have loved this lens on the A7R. However, the profile only works on RAW files, and when converted to jpeg they are unreadable by some. When saving a compressed j-peg (in Photoshop) the save tool will not display expected MB size. I didn’t think was a terrible omission — but some places are rejecting my images. Once converted, Is there something with regard to the color-space I need to alter to correct these images?
There is a VERY good reason why Adobe Lens Corrections only work on RAW (or DNG) files.
RAW is a RAW – but a processed files such as a jpg might already have lens corrections applied in-camera – or they might not – and there is no way for software to know this…
hello, Can I put a filter on the lens ?
Yes you can on every lens other than the 14mm.
Any idea if focus peaking on the A7 works with these lenses? can’t find any tests for these lenses on the A7/A7r/A7s. Cheers!
Focus Peaking works best with shallow depth of field and good contrast. Rokinon/Samyang lenses have good contrast. As for depth of field, focus peaking will snap nicely with with the 50/1.4, 85/1.4 or 135/2 wide open – but not so well eith a 14mm stopped down to F16 – so when using Focus Peaking with extreme wide angle lenses it’s a good idea to focus wide open and stop down to shoot.
i just bought the 85mm 1.4 through B and H using your link.Thank you for these suggestions .I am sure its of a lot of benefit to everyone.I loved going through your entire Sony related articles.I recently shifted from Canon to a Sony a7 mark 2 and i am loving it.
Sweeeeet!
Hi Brian. The image at the top of this page show the lenses with, what looks like, a permanently fixed adaptor on them. The lenses in the links are E mount, so will fit the Sony A7 series, but as they don’t have the ‘adaptor’ fitted will they be in crop mode?
All the lenses on this list are fullframe E-mount. They are designed for DSLRs so the E-mount versions must be deeper to account for the shallower body depth.
