Manfrotto Befree Advanced Alpha Travel Tripod (Pre-Order for $189.99 from B&H Photo | Adorama) This special version of the Befree Advanced Lever is designed for Sony alpha camera users who want maximum performance and stability in all shooting positions.
The quick-release plate is designed to match Sony a7 and Sony a9 camera bodies, to ensure perfect grip, even in the most angled camera shots. The front jut of the plate physically blocks the camera, preventing any play both on tilt and rotational movements, always keeping the camera stuck to the head plate.
The plate is also fully compatible with the world’s most widespread standard head attachments: Manfrotto RC2 and Arca-swiss style. With this aluminium plate fixed to the camera, all Manfrotto heads and almost all tripod heads on the market featuring Arca-style attachments can be set up rapidly and effortlessly, without disassembling components.

Thanks for the heads up!! Very, Very Nice!!! The Manfrotto Befree Advanced Alpha Travel Tripod only difference is the plate to camera (as I see on web site) which is an excellent ridge idea so you have one less thing moving. And that it will work with the RC2 (I think best, camera is LOCKED in) or the Arca-swiss style, NICE to have BOTH on one plate. Only thing to make better would be an extra leg extension so as to leave camera at top of tripod not on the extension tube. Both plate and tripod a must buy AND GREAT PRICE!!!!……
I’ve been looking for a pre-order page or something. Anyone with any luck?
I’ll post one as soon as I see it.
Excellent. Now, how about an L Bracket? That is the main downside to the RC2 system.
It’s compatible with Arca-Swiss L-Brackets
Yea, a reasonably priced L would be great. I did get one for $50 from eBay, and it fit well, but the battery compartment won’t open and the screw head is hex instead of d ring.
Which camera?
B&H Manfrotto Q2 L Bracket $134.88 works fine with my A7RM2 and A7S with my 190L tripod. Yes no battery compartment opening but worked for me doing Grand Canyon Pano with my SEL24240. Also the Novoflex VR-System Slim Multi-Row Panorama System for the serious pano but arca also B&H $750.99 made for small mirrorless systems
Please Sony bring back the apps!!
or at least imbed timelapse and Smooth Reflections into a firmware update.
This past weekend i was timelapsing with a Nikon owner—he laughed when I pulled out the Neewer intervelometer.
I cannot find information regarding which specific cameras this fits… I have verbally heard a7 and a9 series. Websites simply say alpha series…. Wondering about the a6500. Anyone?
There is a lip at the front of the baseplate to keep it from twisting so it should work on all Sony mirrorless cameras
No, The bracket fits A7RM2 (Maybe M3’s do not know) BUT not an A7S, the front lip is too short. Great idea though arca-swiss and RC2 all in one mount plate. Best thing the tripod cost $180 not 300+ and very light just need to hang your camera bag on the hook. Being carbon fiber great for beach shots and carrying around a city all day/night, small on a messenger bag and unnoticed if eating in a restaurant next to you and gear not in your car.
