Save $100 on Axler 30″ Expanding Caterpillar Slider that adds linear camera motion to your video productions for camera rigs weighing up to 11 pounds. When placed on a tabletop, it provides 18″ of sliding length, but when mounted on a tripod or light stand, the slider takes advantage of a belt-driven moving camera carriage and mounting base that, in essence, allows the rails of the slider to travel along with the carriage, providing 30″ of sliding range from a unit that is only 19.5″ long. It’s compact size and lightweight aluminum construction makes this portable slider ideal for travel and location shooting.

The slider is equipped with four height-adjustable rubber feet for tabletop use and features a built-in bubble level to help horizontally align the slider. For use on a tripod or light stand, the mounting base has 1/4″-20 and 3/8″-16 threaded holes. The carriage has a 1/4″-20 screw for mounting your camera, with a 3/8″-16 bushing provided for attaching a tripod head. A lock mechanism can be engaged to prevent the carriage from sliding between shots. For convenient storage and transport of the slider, a carry case is included.
Belt-Driven System for Expanded Slides
The belt-driven system connects the camera carriage to the mounting base. When placed on a flat surface, the base travels in the opposite direction of the carriage, yielding standard slider results and a sliding range of 18″. When mounted on a tripod or light stand, the movement of the mounting base is restricted, causing the rails to move through the base in the same direction as the carriage, increasing the total sliding range to 30″ in the process.

Axler’s parent company is Gradus Group which distributes a large line of specialty niche photo, video and audio products. The Axler line includes this slider along with an excellent line of stabilization rigs.
