B&H tells me they just shipped me my Commite version that I ordered a few months ago. Will know a lot soon, although I might be too easy on them. If I get electronic communication and aperture control that will be huge. I have zero patience for crappy autofocus so either it works REALLY well or I will switch to focus peaking.
Worry: says that it works well with PDAF. But Sony mirrorless in various modes use a combination of CDAF and PDAF. Well, we shall see ….
Expect it to work best with a7RII, a7II (firmware 2.0 and later) and a6300
Brian,
Sounds really useful as I have found the Metabones Nikon adaptor difficult to get focus consistent with the A7R.
Will the adaptor work fully with the Sony A7R given the different autofocus system?
I understand that the fotodiox one whilst it will work with the A7R it is not recommended due to the autofocus system it would be very slow.
Many thanks
Sony a7R’s contrast AF is not up to the task.
Nikon Smart Adapters only offer usable AF with a7II, a7RII, a6300 and a6500.
This review explains how they perform.
