Sony has released camera firmware update FW 1.10 for Sony a7RII mirrorless cameras.

This utility updates the ILCE-7RM2 system software to version 1.10, and provides the following benefits:

  • Reduces the chance of the camera changing to front focus when shooting certain scenes. (Note: This symptom rarely occurs.)
  • Decreases chroma noise when Long Exposure NR (Noise Reduction) is set to Off. (Note: The noise does not occur when Long Exposure NR is set to On.
  • Improves continuous shooting at Hi speed so that it can be used as long with the flash as without the flash.

    1. Yes I have had the front focus issue. Specifically with the 24-70 FE only, all other lenses perfect.
So this is great work from Sony to recognise and fix the issue so quickly!!!

    2. From what I read the A7R2 focus acquisition was unlike the other A7 in the style of DSLRs with fully open aperture. I would assume the lens design for DSLR lenses are OK, otherwise we would have front focus issues in the the DSLR forums. Microadjust can only program an offset for the fully open aperture measurements, have not seen a aperture correction curve yet. So has the advantage of utilising all available light and narrow DOF for focusing been traded to fix a focus shift issue of some lenses? I’m very wary of upgrading as once done one cannot go back and I’m happy with what the latest Metabones firmware can achieve with Canon lenses. With a upgrade affecting AF, do we have possibly new compatibility issues with present adapter firmware that in turn need fixing and I would have to wait for? We know too little on what Sony has done, may be the fix is selective and not global. I would have liked the other benefits of the upgrade.
