Samyang Releases Rokinon AF 24-70mm F2.8 FE Zoom Lens

Rokinon’s first AF zoom lens, the Rokinon AF 24-70mm f/2.8 FE Zoom Lens ($999) offers a bright f/2.8 aperture, premium optical design, fast and accurate autofocus, solid build quality and weather-sealed body. It features a parfocal design, enabling it to maintain its focus point as it zooms in or out. This premium feature, often only seen in high grade cinema lenses allows you to compose a shot more quickly while keeping your subject in focus as framing changes.

Optical design incorporates three HR elements, two aspherical elements, one HB element and three extra-low dispersion elements. UMC Coating has been applied to individual elements to significantly minimize lens flare and ghosting for increased contrast and color neutrality. The lens’ LSM (Linear Sonic Motor) autofocus provides quick and precise focusing performance, and manual focus override is also available for more refined control.

  1. Something to think about, generally a lens stays with you longer than a camera that later gets updated with another model. My first experience with Rokinon in 2015 was with the 14mm f/2.8 it had mustache distortion and always elongated stars in the upper corners, it took a year before Lr had a lens correction (always the first of any to have one) and the Rokinon sites LC did not work. Even using the lens correction A7s app could not correct. It took a year to process. A very popular lens for some time. I have the Sony FE 2470 Gm f/2.8 that is great at low light blue hour but at f/8 a daytime shot is crystal clear to the horizon and city buildings at 15 miles you can see the windows at 200x as well a surfers 2 miles and shells clearly at close on the sand as well as birds and clouds are sharp oh and a shrimp boat with nets out on the horizon and that is with the A7iii 24MP not even the A7riv 61MP even if you crop it looks great. You will find the 2470 the workhorse of daytime and with 2.8 through entire range and great low light lens. If you can wait and save the extra $1K I think you will be happier longer! Just trying to help!!!

    1. OK, but have you tried the Rokinon 24-70? Seems to be a lot of agreement about the GM Sony, but between weight, size and cost, Tamron’s made a good name in this niche, and Sigma, too. A comparison between your prize and the lens that’s here on the page would be helpful. My little Rokinon has been a tank for astrophotography, has corrected just fine in LR, and I’m impressed with what Rokinon’s doing…is this a lens that’s following Rokinon’s upward quality curve?
