Kaput! Meyer Optik Görlitz Bankrupt

German photography website Photoscala reports that Meyer Optik Görlitz, CP Goerz and Oprema Jena parent company Net SE is now officially bankrupt and money raised through pre-financed crowdfunding lenses is most likely lost. The company’s downward spiral began when Net SE CEO and principal shareholder, Stefan Immes, barely survived a serious traffic accident.

This is sad new for all who backed their upcoming lenses, myself included. I purchased a number of their lenses through Kickstarter and all were extremely well-made and I was eagerly awaiting the Meyer-Optik Gorlitz 50mm F0.95 Nocturnus III and 75mm F0.95 Nocturnus Fullframe E-Mount lenses.

  1. Personally, I don’t see crowd funding via Kickstarter as any different than buying the stock of a company.

It’s a risk and we choose to take that risk based on what we know at the time of the investment.

If there’s fraud, that’s one thing. However, in either case, the investment is lost.

  2. Today I got a letter from Lieser (completely in German) insolvency agent for net se, about how to file claim; sad news. I am skeptical I will get any money back

  3. I also got an email stating that I could fill out their form to become part of their class action law suit. However, you have to complete it in German. Anyone speak German?

  4. Hi, I know it’s a bit late in the day. I have filled out this form as well to claim some money back. Has anyone done so and have you heard anything back from Lieser?

  5. I didn’t do it because it required German bank account info from what the little German I know. Good luck though.
