Save 10% on Manfrotto Befree Advanced Alpha Special Edition Travel Tripod with Quick-Release Ballhead for Sony Cameras – Pre-Order Now for $189.99 from B&H Photo | Adorama

This special version Befree Advanced Lever is designed for Sony alpha camera users who want maximum performance and stability in all shooting positions.

The quick-release plate is designed to match Sony a7 and Sony a9 camera bodies, to ensure perfect grip, even in the most angled camera shots. The front jut of the plate physically blocks the camera, preventing any play both on tilt and rotational movements, always keeping the camera stuck to the head plate.

The plate is also fully compatible with the world’s most widespread standard head attachments: Manfrotto RC2 and Arca-swiss style. With this aluminium plate fixed to the camera, all Manfrotto heads and almost all tripod heads on the market featuring Arca-style attachments can be set up rapidly and effortlessly, without disassembling components.

  1. Ordered two at Adorama BUT one question what about just the mounting plate? Will it be available separately in the future! Always have extra plates in all camera bags and photo jacket. Have asked Manfrotto no reply yet!!!

      1. Yes the tripod has been at this price since the BeFree Advanced came out BUT the mounting PLATE is the new thing just for Sony Alpha models. It keeps your camera from another swivel point while on your tripod, sometimes you will position your camera and if not tight with mounting will turn some. But also I think what is important is it can be used with either Manfrotto RC2 or Arca-Swiss Quick Release System. A great Idea!! Like wanting to use Peak Design clamp but like your Manfrotto tripod. Some like the idea of carrying a camera on a pack strap or belt. I hope the inventor makes some green!! There are two types of the tripod one with the twist tight (three colors) or lever tight but the lever tight is the one being sold at B&H and Adorama and both on vacation till next week getting info hard to get. Still coming soon on Manfrotto, B&H and Adorama not listed on Amazon (tripods yes but without mount plate). I talked to Manfrotto USA “person” which stated tripods and plates are coming he could see on shipping info. But no info on just plates (YET). Shipping not till after Easter holiday anyway (next week [maybe])!!! Also I expect mounting plates for other camera makers just like this one $$$ to be made!

        1. It’s great progress for Manfrotto which until now has been unwilling to budge from their goofy proprietary quick release plates. Arca-Swiss is a MUCH better choice. Well done, Manfrotto!

  2. I have the Befree for Sony alpha7iii and it is really good. I would like an extra plate so that I can fix it to my large zoom lens permenantely but I have been unable to find one anywhere (including Manfrotto). If anyone knows where I could get one I would be very greatful.
