In Print: Iron Chef Morimoto Haute Living Cover Shoot

Miami photographer Brian Smith portrait photography cover shoot of iron chef morimoto

The latest issue of Haute Living Miami features my cover shoot of Iron Chef Masaharu Morimoto. We photographed Iron Chef Morimoto poolside at the Shelbourne Hotel, future site of Morimoto Miami. As a magazine celebrity portrait photographer you have to be ready no matter the weather. But despite the gray skies on our rainy day in Miami Beach, everything looked amazing thanks light from Profoto Acute B strobes and our Sony A7R camera.

Iron Chef Masaharu Morimoto absolutely FLIPPED when he saw that I was shooting him with a Sony A7R because he was dying to get his hands on one! Before Morimoto opened Nobu, he was the original sushi chef at the Sony Club in New York, serving sushi to the likes of Michael Jackson.

  1. Delicious portraits of the Chef. Had the same question as Lisa! 🙂 What do you think of the Cactus transceivers? Are they as good as the Pocket Wizards? Just got my Sony A7. Pre-ordered your book same day. Very curious about the use of flash with this camera. Been a long time Nikon user.

    1. Hi Heather, I haven’t had a chance to test Cactus transceivers, but pocket Wizards and Tiny Triggers both work fine. As long as the the pin on the trigger lines up with the center pin of the flash shoe, they should work fine.
