American Photographic Artists Welcomes You to the New APA

American Photographic Artists (APA) launched their new and dramatically enhanced website for their members and the photography community at large. The new website provides the tools and information APA members need to stay in touch with the newest technology and the most important advocacy issues facing photographers today.

“Not only is the new site sleek and stylish, but it is content-rich and easy to navigate,” says National Executive Director Juliette Wolf-Robin. “Our former website was not serving the growing needs of our members. Although this project has taken some time, we are excited that it is now complete and will continue to evolve.”

APA Website Offers New Improved User Experience

The new user experience provides members easy access to helpful information and great benefits with its dynamic and clean layout and design. The sophisticated platform also allows easy access across mobile and desktop devices – an important feature as APA members stay on the go these days from shoot to shoot and meeting to meeting. Photographers need a website full of helpful content and one that’s quickly assessable, whether they need insirational photo tips or want to inform themselves with updates on the latest Advocacy issues. Now photographers can have APA in their pocket throughout the day.

“Redesigning the APA website is something the executive board has wanted to do for many years, and it was the strong vision of our Chicago director Steve Brooks that set the ball in motion,” says APA President Theresa Raffetto. “Steve and Juliette worked tirelessly to get the site to where it is today. We are all very excited and appreciative of their efforts.”

“Our approach has been to develop a cyber-hub for professional photographers, ” explains Juliette Wolf-Robin, National Executive Director. “As an association primarily composed of freelancers, it’s important to create a sense of community. The new APA site provides a destination for creative inspiration, a way to catch up on legal developments, and a place to find out about events happening all around the country. This new platform will do a fantastic job in providing members easy access to the tools they need to succeed and be more profitable.”

New Membership Categories

APA officially changed their name to American Photographic Artists in 2010 to reflect the growing diversity of their members, as membership increased by 35% in three years and the association currently includes a diverse group of artists. They are now taking the next step in the progression to be inclusive to all artists, as genres and disciplines continue to evolve, so must its associations.

“Each photographer is unique and we understand that everyone’s professional path is different, and in this continually changing marketplace we wanted to give members the flexibility to choose the member level that best fits their needs,” says Raffetto. “By migrating to an open enrollment plan there are no more time restraints to a specific level such as “˜emerging’ or “˜student.’ Under the new model, you may maintain membership at a given level for as many years as you would like. To fully support the activities of APA, we recommend a Supporter membership or higher.”

“APA is a non-profit organization run by photographers for photographers,” says Raffetto. “We understand the challenges of this industry and advocate on behalf of all our members.”
