Voigtlander has announced their latest fullframe E-Mount manual focus lens: Nokton Classic 35mm f/1.4 Lens for Sony E-mount ($799 here).
It’s the sixth lens in Voigtlander’s fullframe E-Mount line joining the Voigtlander 10mm f/5.6 Aspherical, 12mm f/5.6 Aspherical III, 15mm f/4.5 Aspherical III, 40mm f/1.2 Nokton Aspherical & Macro APO-Lanthar 65mm f/2 Aspherical Lenses

Sony E Mount Compatible:
With the electronic contact, the usage status of the lens is reflected in the EXIF information of the shooting data. In addition, because it incorporates a distance encoder, it supports 5-axis camera shake compensation on the camera body side. You can also enlarge the display by operating the focus ring.
Symmetrical Lens Configuration:
Reconstructed with the latest optical technology while adopting the traditional symmetrical lens configuration to obtain a unique and beautiful depiction. By adopting ultrahigh refraction glass, we have realized a large aperture with compact size.
Optimized Optical Design:

shame its manual, but love the voigtlander lenses 🙂
Voigtlander has found a niche making manual focus Sony E-mount and Leica M-mount lenses. EXIF transfer with their Sony E-mount lenses is a big plus as it enables Focus Assist.
This looks promising! I assume this lens will have a declick aperture like the 40mm? How similar do you think the image qualities/bokeh will be to the Leica M version of this lens?
Not sure about de-click aperture. I don’t see a mention of that but that doesn’t mean it’s not there. Lens design symmetrical is based on Voigtlander’s classic 35mm F1.4
Any idea when this will actually be for sale?

Hi Brian,
I’m looking at buying one of the two new Voigtlanders (either the 40mm 1.2 or the 35 1.4) for my A7RM2. I have read outstanding reviews about the 40mm, but can’t find a word written about the 35mm e-mount version.
I happen to be a “the wider the better” guy, but 1.2 has an appeal that is hard to fight.
Do you think the character and quality of the 35 might match the 40 ?
