How to Simplify Your Social Media Profile Links

As I was looking at a jumbled list of URLs to my social media profiles it occurred to me I could clean up all my social media links with simple redirects from my website. There are a number of way to do this. If you’ve got a webmaster, they can easily do this for you in five minutes if you give them a list of all your social media profile URLs. But it’s even easier that that if you’re rollin’ WordPress to power your website.

Simple Steps for WordPress Users

If you’re running a WordPress-powered websites it’s simple to do using the Redirection Plug-in. Once Redirection is installed simply open the Redirection tab in your Tools panel and type in the /subdomain into the Source ID then enter the URL to your Social Media profile into Target URL:

Repeat this for all your social media accounts to create custom links to all your social media profiles:

BOOM you’re done! No more searching for your your Instagram URL or the link to your Linkedin profile. Once you’ve created these URLs you can easily change the Target URL they’re linked to if you wish at any point in the future and the Custom URLs will redirect to the new link.
