The exterior is made from the very same rugged VX-21 sail cloth material as the 30L and the customizable interior, with its soft dividers, allows you to configure the bag to suit your needs. VX-21 material is abrasion and tear-resistant and is used on some of the world’s most celebrated America’s Cup racing boats because of its strength and durability.

Kiboko’s unique zippered butterfly flap design permits you full access to your gear without the need to unzip multiple pockets found on other backpacks. The central flap unzips to give you a complete view of your contents. It’s also handy for storing the tuck-away harness and waist belt system. The zippers contain handy ring pulls that are quite useful especially when you’re wearing gloves.

The harness system is wide, foam-filled, comfortable, fully adjustable and supported by an additional snap coupled sternum strap for added stability while walking or hiking. The back panel has been vented to provide enhanced air circulation and heat dissipation while on the move. The waist belt is also wide, adjustable and fully removable in case you aren’t carrying a heavy load and require a lighter, less cumbersome pack. When not needed, both the straps and belt can be hidden within the central butterfly flap. To compensate for that, Kiboko provides both top and side grab handles for quick retrieval from a car, closet or luggage rack. A handy tripod attachment will come in handy for those long exposure or macro shots.

For inclement weather, a rain cover is included to completely enshroud the 22L+. Kiboko’s fix it or replace it five-year warranty against manufacturer’s defects is respectable. Its lighter weight design is a trade-off between similar packs that contain more padding that add weight and the 22L+’s lighter, more durable fabric that permits you to carry more gear but save on the overall weight of the pack.

        1. Hehe, who needs a big bag when you’re running a Sony Mirrorless system 🙂

We’re high end 360 panorama & 360video specialists, so into my Kiboko goes:

          2x A7r bodies.
1x Canon 8-15mm fisheye with Metabones adaptor.
          1x Samyang 8mm fisheye (Emount)
          Usually a rectilinear lens (Sony/Zeiss 55mm f1.8, or 24-70 f4)
          360video rig (6x GoPros in a multi-camera array)
Heaps of wireless remotes, batteries, chargers, accessories etc
          15 inch high end laptop.

With space for more, and it all fits in airline carry on. Crazy difference from the days when we ran Nikon D800’s etc.

I know I’m preaching to the converted here.

The only issue I have with the Gura Gear butterfly flap designs is forgetting to zip up both sides before picking it up. I only unzip the side I need to grab something, then sometimes don’t zip it again, then pick up the bag sometime later. I didn’t have this problem with the single flap bags, but much prefer the butterfly design anyway.

I learned about this issue the hard way, on a shoot last year I grabbed the bag out of the car boot and swung it onto my back… one of the flaps wasn’t zipped and a Sony A7r + lens went flying onto concrete. It’s not a nice sound.

Projected from around 1.5m (5 ft) onto cold hard concrete, I expected either the camera or lens to have sustained considerable damage, yet apart from a couple of minor scrapes on the body, no issues whatsoever. I still use the same body and lens regularly.

          Thanks, Aaron.
