  1. So would I be able to get constant 4k 60p out of my FS5 MKII with this recorder? as this is a desired feature I wish was on this camera. Also wish this camera did a better job at auto focusing, really considering purchasing it for its form factor, footage capabilities and price point. If you have one would you recommend it for a work horse run and gun/studio camera? If not is there anything really around this price point that can compare that would match up well with a sony a6500 as a B cam.

    1. According to the specs the answer is yes.

      Input/Output Resolutions HDMI:
      4096 x 2160: 60/59.94/50/30/29.97/25/24/23.98
      3840 x 2160: 60/59.94/50/30/29.97/25/24/23.98

  2. Hi Brian!
Have you tried outputting 120fps from the Sony FS5 II to the Ninja V via HDMI? What resolutions and codecs are possible? Can’t find a solid answer online. Would be great to be able to record 120fps in Prores, high bitrate via HDMI, either 1080p or 4K burst. Cheers!

  3. Hi Dan, I hope you’re well.
    Quick question about the 4K UHD – FS5 with Ninja V :
Internally I record 8 bit with the FS5 which is normal
But with the Ninja V, I manage to have somehow 10 bit UHD (from catalyst)
    Around 650/700 Mbps
Does it mean we can record 4K 10 bit with FS5 Ninja V ?
I read everywhere it’s not possible (via HDMI of course)

  4. Hello, I’m a bit confused. Have you tested if the Ninja v will work with the Sony FS5MII (records ProRes RAW 4K DCI 60p) via the HDMI? I wanted to confirm before I bought his pair, so I contacted Atomos and they said this:

    1) No, the FS5 and FS5 mkII do not output RAW or DCI signals over HDMI. The Shogun Inferno is probably the best companion device for the FS5 since this combination can be used to record RAW signals, and 2K 120p and 240p for slow motion.

    So is this person misinformed?

Thanks for any clarification on this.

  5. Well clearly that’s not the case. Dual 4k micro-HDMI was prioritised, and better audio was not. Besides there are numerous ways to add better audio as Bpp said, not so many ways to add extra display outputs.
